Toronto Raptors to play in New Jersey in the new season?

The COVID-19 pandemic could force the Toronto Raptors to play in New Jersey for the 2020/21 season, it was being reported. The league is still about to decide the Raptors’ fate in this regard. Let’s discuss it in our free sports picks for today.

Toronto Raptors are the only NBA team which is playing outside of the United States. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic international traveling is really complicated at the moment. And this is just another problem for the league. We still don’t even know when the new NBA season will start.

There are several ideas the Raptors are thinking about right now. One of the suggestions could lead them to Kansas City. Another options is Louisville, Kentucky, CBS reports. We have understood the Raptors are not really liking this option because of the Breonna Taylor’s shooting and death earlier this year.

Stefan Bondy from the New York Daily News now announced that Newark, New Jersey is the Raptors’ most probable choice in this situation. According to the reporter the Raptors have already talked with the operators of the Prudential Center, asking about the arena. The league also likes this option simply because it’s close to most of Raptors’ opponents in the division. Teams like the Celtics, the 76ers, the Nets and the Knicks are all positioned in a close proximity to New Jersey. Reduced travel is always a good idea when you’re in such a pandemic situation.

In our free sports picks we will continue to follow what’s happening with the Toronto Raptors and their new home for the 2020/21 season. It seems that they surely won’t be playing in Canada next season, so we will inform you right away when there are news.
